Motley Services

What is a session?
I would plan on one hour but, be flexible.
Our services are designed for success, not bound by time. Dogs learn most effectively in short, focused episodes.
Each session is built to assess the team’s current behavior, test adjustments, and construct an easy‑to‑follow, safe home practice exercise.
Motley Teams have constant access to us via email and can schedule in‑person meetings to review questions or difficulties with their homework.

A word on Behavioral Consultations and Behavioral Assessments
Assessments are real‑time evaluations of performance and the effectiveness of applied techniques. Actual behavior assessments are tools used continuously by competent practitioners to keep both dog and handler on track. They aren’t one‑time tests — they’re ongoing measurements that guide adjustments and confirm progress.

As you know dog training is unregulated and you are right to be concerned about qualifications. Motley Dog training techniques are based on hard scientific research and years of applied analysis.
At Motley Dog, our behavior modification protocols are built entirely on hard scientific research and years of applied behavior analysis. Here is the dirty secret that no one in the pet industry wants to tell you:
The most effective dog training techniques didn’t originate from “dog whisperers”—they came from behavioral psychology.
The fundamental laws of learning, motivation, and behavior modification apply universally across species. By mastering pure behavioral science rather than relying on outdated “pack leader” myths, we achieve real, measurable results.
My assertion that psychology trumps traditional dog folklore has ruffled some feathers in the industry, but it is a verifiable scientific fact. To ensure our methods hold up to the highest standards, I have acquired certifications from and been affiliated with elite industry organizations including:
- APDT International (Association for Professional Dog Training International)
- IAABC (International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants)
I have deeply studied the methodologies of the world’s most famous dog trainers. What I discovered is that true behavioral mastery requires an understanding of core psychological techniques—including several cutting-edge modalities that standard obedience trainers completely ignore.
I am a Master of behavior Sciences not just dogs but, behavior. Yes, I and my team are qualified.
Don’t settle for folklore. Trust the science.
The growing concern for your dog’s safety is no surprise to me. Everyday, I see massive errors made by certified dog behaviorists—and even more frequently by well-meaning but undertrained dog trainers.
The most common failure in our industry is a fundamental misunderstanding of how to properly design and apply core behavioral modification protocols like exposure and shaping. When trainers mistake raw exposure for structured desensitization, they don’t fix the problem—they flood the dog and make the behavior worse.
This systemic failure applies directly to how the industry attempts to correct aggressive behavior, nuisance barking, destructive habits, and a laundry list of other unwanted behaviors. Even standard loose-leash walking becomes a point of caution, because poor mechanics from a handler will inadvertently increase the dog’s desire to pull.
This brings us to the most misunderstood concept in modern dog training: the misuse of training collars and signaling devices.
Many trainers have built highly lucrative businesses by taking advantage of a loving owner’s misunderstanding of these tools. They use them as mechanical overrides rather than communication devices.
Here is the truth we stand by at Motley Dog: if you want quality, lasting results that are actually worth your hard-earned money, there are no shortcuts. Short cuts are inherently unsafe. If you don’t believe me, just look around your neighborhood and ask the guy with the big dog in a pinch collar if his shortcut ever keeps him out of real trouble.
Unlike the vast majority of dog trainers and behaviorists, we do not train your dog for you.
We believe that if you are willing to invest your hard-earned time and money into your dog, you need to master the exact behavioral techniques required to sustain that relationship for life.
When you hire Motley Dog Training LLC, you are not paying for billable hours—you are paying for achievement.
Our program is structured as a clear, step-by-step progression. Every single stage is precisely measured by a professional formally trained in performance and behavioral assessment. Because of this, we do not offer gimmicky quick fixes or empty “lifetime guarantees.” Instead, we offer a partnership.
When you join us as a Motley Dog Team Member, you gain direct access to our elite training staff via email and phone. We provide our local and international clients with comprehensive video analysis and real-time behavioral adjustment. These remote consultations are not “add-on” expenses; they are fully integrated support mechanisms built right into your core four-session milestone package.
Our decades of experience mean we have already factored in the chaotic obstacles of modern life. We don’t need to offer superficial guarantees because we provide every tool, checkpoint, and intervention necessary to ensure you succeed with us at your side.
When we say your program is individualized, we mean it. Your journey begins with constant, expert behavior shaping. Our selection of specific exercises adapts dynamically both during and between your scheduled sessions. We remain entirely flexible; we do not enforce a rigid, artificial timeline for completion. This adaptive pacing is the single most critical individual factor that mainstream trainers completely ignore.
Here is a cold fact learned from decades in this industry: The people who spend the most money and get the absolute lowest return are the quick-fix finders and the DIY self-trainers.
Since you are here reading this, that likely isn’t you. Stop wasting your time, money, and emotional effort on shortcuts. Take the time to do it right.
